Griffin Books Recommends - August 2018

Struggling to choose what to read next? We've put together our recommendations for the month to help you out! All the books suggestion below are available in the shop.

Dead Lions by Mick Herron (paperback £8.99)

I’m really looking forward to the second book in Mick Herron’s Slow Horses series. The first one was thoroughly enjoyable so I’ll be taking the second on holiday with me! The perfect read for any spy/thriller fans. I’m also looking forward to his visit to us in October to discuss his new book ‘This Is What Happened’ (tickets available - see events page!).

The Lido by Libby Page (hardback £10.99)

This book is the perfect companion for an August afternoon! The Lido is a heart-warming tale of a community coming together from various generations and making a difference to their home. A lovely read for the summer.

The Man Who Climbs Trees by James Aldred (paperback £9.99)

A unique perspective on a career placing cameras to capture the world’s wildlife! A great read for any green-fingered people out there. It’s fascinating to learn about this extremely unique career!

Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig (hardback £12.99)

I’m half-way through this book and so far it’s raised some really interesting questions about how our modern culture impacts our collective mental health. I loved his first non-fiction, Reasons to Stay Alive so I had to pick this new one up.
