Nature, knitting, American politics - New Online Events Announced

Nature, knitting, a mysterious disappearance and American politics are all on the agenda for June as Griffin Books announces its latest online Meet the Author events. Penarth’s independent bookshop has been holding online events since the start of lockdown and they plan to continue the format - which has proved popular with authors and attendees alike - throughout summer.

On Wednesday 3 June, we welcomed naturalist, broadcaster and author, Stephen Moss, into our virtual bookshop. Stephen spoke to bookshop owner Mel Griffin about his new book The Accidental Countryside, which tells the fascinating and uplifting story of how wildlife has taken advantage of us – often when we least expected it.

Events will also take place in June with: Laura Cumming whose bestselling book On Chapel Sands uncovers the mystery of her mother’s disappearance as a child; Esther Rutter, whose book This Golden Fleece traces the history of wool and knitting throughout the British Isles; and James Naughtie, one of Britain’s leading broadcasters, will be speaking about his latest book On The Road: American Adventures from Nixon to Trump.

The Meet the Author events are facilitated via Zoom conference call and cost just £5 per household, which includes a discount on book purchases.
