In this bilingual event, Rian Evans will discuss her new book ‘Kyffin Williams: The Light and the Dark’ with Jon Gower. Sir Kyffin Williams deserves to be ranked alongside the great British and European artists of the 20th Century, according to the new work marking the centenary of his birth. Born in Llangefni, Anglesey, on 9 May 1918, Sir Kyffin became one of the defining Welsh artists of the last 50 years. The book fulfils the difficult task of presenting an overview of Williams’ extensive career following his death in 2006.

Rian Evans is a Welsh critic and art writer, currently working on Kyffin Williams’ biography.

Mae Rian Evans yn beirniad Cymraeg ac yn awdur celf, sy'n gweithio ar fywraffiad Kyffin Williams ar hyn o bryd

Jon Gower has filled half a bookshelf with his own titles in Welsh and English, including 'Y Storïwr' (Wales Book of the Year, 2012), 'Norte' (shortlisted for same prize, 2016) and 'The Story of Wales'. He is a former BBC Wales arts and media correspondent. His latest book is the noir crime thriller ‘Y Duwch’, published in June this year.

Mae Jon Gower sy'n ysgrifennu yn Gymraeg a Saesneg wedi llenwi hanner silff lyfrau bellach â'i waith ei hun, sy'n cynnwys 'Y Storïwr' (Llyfr y Flwyddyn, 2012), 'Norte' (Rhestr Fer Llyfr y Flwyddyn 2016) a 'The Story of Wales'. Mae'n gyn ohebydd y celfyddydau a chyfryngau i BBC Cymru. Ei lyfr diweddaraf yw 'Y Duwch', a gyhoeddwyd ym mis Mehefin eleni.
