On 19th October we had the amazing opportunity to host a literary lunch at Glamorganshire Golf Club with 'Queen of Crime' Martina Cole. We were delighted that she was able to make a stop in Penarth to talk about her latest book 'Damaged', before she went on to other bookshops in South Wales.
We hosted an excellent crowd of over 60 people at the Golf Club for a delicious (as always!) two-course lunch and there was a copy of 'Damaged' included in the ticket price.
After lunch, Martina spoke to Mel not only about the book but about her own life as well. She grew up in an Irish family in Essex, and her big break came in 1991 when the manuscript of 'Dangerous Lady' was picked up for publication. So far in her career she has 22 books published, all within the crime genre. She had the whole crowd in fits of laughter, immitating her parents and discussing her meetings with agents and publishers.
After her talk, Martina took questions from the audience (including some about open plot points from previous books, which she cleverly evaded!) and then signed books and chatted with everyone individually. It was a great afternoon, and we'd like to give special thanks to the team at the Golf Club for helping everything run as smoothly as possible.
We can't wait for the next one!
