Last weekend we held a great event at All Saints Church with Dr. Jonathan Hicks.
He was giving a talk about his new book 'Wales and the First Air War 1914-1918', which is an account of Welsh involvement in the Royal Flying Corps, Royal Navy Air Service and Royal Air Force during the First World War. In the book, Dr. Hicks accounts for each Welsh casualty and every medal awarded for bravery to a Welshman during this time, and includes stories of famous Welsh flying aces.
As ever, Dr. Hicks provided a thoroughly-researched talk that gave a local twist to the wider topic of the Air Forces during World War One and the audience were fascinated. We don't know how Dr. Hicks finds time to be a headmaster and write all his great books, but we're pleased he does!
Once again, a big thanks to All Saints for co-hosting with us and for providing refreshments, and thanks to the book (& history!) loving community of Penarth who continue to support our events. Hope to see you at the next one, which will be Lee Byrne interviewed by Phil Steele at the Old Penarthians RFC on Monday 11th December at 7:30pm!
