New Online Events Announced!

Our doors may be temporarily closed to customers, but we're still here - dotted about Penarth and Dinas Powys - and want to keep the book conversations flowing!

We have been busy behind the scenes, taking your orders via phone, email, social media and carrier pigeon (THANK YOU again for your support), and putting together a new programme of online events which will run for at least the next four weeks. We hope you'll join us, but most of all we hope you're keeping safe and well at home.

Here's what our new weekly timetable looks like:
Monday: BookChat Group (8.00 pm via Zoom video conference)
Tuesday: Storytime reading (10.30 am via Facebook and Instagram)
Wednesday: Meet the Author event (8.00 pm via Zoom video conference)
Thursday: Storytime reading (10.30 am via Facebook and Instagram)
Friday: Social Media Giveaway (via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram)

Scroll down to find out more about our new online event programme and for details of how you can get involved.

Please note: If you sign up for either of the events facilitated by the Zoom video conferencing platform, you will receive instructions on how to join in advance of the event. You will require a smartphone, laptop or tablet with good internet connection, to access the event via video conferencing. Alternatively, you can dial in and just listen to the event audio using a landline or mobile phone.

If you're not able to take part in any of the online activities featured in this newsletter, then please feel free to keep in touch via phone, email or social media. We'd love to hear from you and find out how you're keeping busy (and what you're reading) while you're at home!

Mondays @ 8.00 pm

Join us online every Monday evening for an hour of book-ish chat and a lot of fun. We'll meet via video conferencing platform Zoom, to talk about the books we're currently reading, our all-time favourites and of course our guilty pleasures. Each week we will have a broad theme to get us started, but once the conversation gets going, who knows where it'll take us?

Essentially this is the book group we've all been looking for - the one where you can turn up (in your 'lounge wear') without the guilt of having only read 20 pages of the 500 page historical saga you're meant to be discussing...
Mondays at 8.00 pm
Via Zoom video conference
Free but ticketed

Wednesdays @ 8.00 pm

We may have had to cancel a number of brilliant (physical) events over the next few months, but that isn't going to stop us from bringing some of the best writing talent from across the UK to Penarth! We will use online conferencing facilities to host a live weekly Meet the Author event. Ticket numbers will be limited so that 'attendees' are able to get the best experience.

Keep an eye on our social media accounts for details of which authors will be popping up in your living room over the next few weeks, or book via the link below.

STORYTIMERS UNITE! We're going online. Join us at 10.30 am every Tuesday and Thursday for our new online Toddler Storytime session. Stories will be read by Griffin Books team members Hollie and Kate, and will include new books and old favourites, plus ideas for simple crafts you can do at home.

Videos will be posted or streamed via the Griffin Books Facebook (griffinbookspenarth) and Instagram (@griffinbooksuk) accounts.

Every Friday
Every Friday morning for the next four weeks we'll be giving away some fabulous books via our social media channels.
